The CrossFit Volentia Mixed Sex Pairs Throwdown

Back by popular demand!

 

Grab a mate of the opposite sex (MF teams) and join us for a challenging, community driven event here at CrossFit Volentia!

 

Useful Info:

  • Prizes for all podium finishers.
  • 3 WODS for all teams (lowest points wins)
  • Food and drinks available on the day
  • Vendors on the day

  • No qualifiers 
  • Scaled and RX categories

Movement requirements (RX):

  • Barbell movements (Clean, squat, STO etc) 60kg / 40kg
  • Kettlebell movements (Goblet squat, snatch, lunge etc) 24kg/ 16kg
  • Dumbell movements 22.5kg/ 15kg
  • A good understanding and proficiency of all basic and the majority of RX CrossFit movements.

Movement requirements (SCALED):

  • Barbell movements (Clean, squat, STO etc) 40kg / 30kg
  • Kettlebell movements (Goblet squat, snatch, lunge etc) 16kg/ 12kg
  • Dumbbell movements 15kg/ 10kg
  • A good understanding and proficiency of all basic CrossFit movements.

15 DB cleans (RX 22.5/15 | SC 15/10)

12 DB Devil press

9 STO's (RX 60/40 | SC 40/30)

 

NOTE: This workout is split into 2 x 3 minute AMRAPS. The first 3 minutes is done before Part B, the second 3 minutes is done after part B. Teams will pick up where they left off on the AMRAP after Part B. Any STO is allowed.

NOTES: Any clean is allowed. Athletes must wait until the judge gives the GOOD REP call before dropping the bar.

22 Synchro Med ball squats (9/6)

1 x YGIG Broad jumps up and back EACH

12 Ring dips / Scaled can partner assist

1 x YGIG shuttle run each 

 

NOTES: An athlete must complete a full up and back on the shuttles/ broad jump to score 1 point.

Hi teams, 

 

We hope you're ready and excited for Sunday! 

 

Here's some useful info about the event: 

0800 - 0820 ATHLETE ARRIVAL

0820 - ATHLETE BRIEFING

0900 - WOD 1 STARTS

1630 - LAST WOD ENDS

1700 - AWARDS CEREMONY

 

As always we will do out very best to stick to these timings and have you away on time. To help us to make this happen please make sure you're parking in the correct place. 

 

PARKING

 

Parking will at: Stepnell House, Lawford Road, Rugby, CV21 2UU. Please make sure you use the front car park only and do not block the entrance to the car park or the entrance to the rear of the property. Please do not park in the estate as this risks the blocking of driveways and entrances to businesses. If this happens we have to stop the event until issues are resolved. Please use the parking allocated. Take your rubbish with you. If you are bringing spectators please let them know to park at the above address also. If you struggle to find parking for any reason there is ample parking in LONG LAWFORD which is 0.6 miles from the gym. Please car share. 

 

VENDORS 

 

We are lucky to have multiple vendors joining us on the day of the event. You will find; NOCCO, protein bars, baked goods, porridge, pizza, clothing and more, so don't forget your card! Most vendors are card only. 

 

MORE INFO

 

Toilets will be outside in the portaloos. Ask our friendly refreshments staff if you need your water bottle topped up throughout the day. Please bring a reusable coffee cup/ mug with you, there will be disposable ones but we're doing what we can to reduce waste. Dairy free milk will be available for tea and coffees. Baked goods include gluten free and vegan options. Vegan pizzas will be available.

We're excited to bring back our Mixed Pairs, which was in popular demand and we're happy to see the event sell out way in advance.
